Low-Barrier Behavioral Health Support in Fairbanks

Northern Hope Center is a community behavioral health provider in Fairbanks, Alaska. We provide behavioral health rehabilitation services, Community Recovery Support Services, Intensive Case Management, Peer-Based Crisis Services, Treatment Plan Development/Review, supported employment, health protection services, substance use treatment referrals, meals, transportation support, basic needs assistance, and resource navigation.

Northern Hope Center is seeking final DBH approval to provide 23-Hour Crisis Observation and Stabilization services. COS services will be available only when authorized, staffed, and appropriate for the participant’s needs. View Services

Northern Hope Center is a community behavioral health provider serving adults in Interior Alaska who experience serious mental health challenges, emotional distress, substance use-related concerns, housing instability, social isolation, or barriers to stability.

Our drop-in center provides a safe and welcoming space where participants can receive peer support, meals, resource navigation, case management, recovery support, and connection to ongoing services.

Many services are low-barrier and may be available at no cost to eligible participants depending on funding, Medicaid eligibility, and program requirements.

Participants can:

  • Enjoy meals, supportive conversation, and community connection
  • Engage in creative, wellness, and recovery-focused activities
  • Receive peer support, case management, and resource navigation
  • Connect with housing, benefits, healthcare, treatment, and community supports
  • Access direct peer-based crisis support when appropriate and available

Northern Hope Center is not an emergency department, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, a medical detox facility, or an involuntary treatment facility. Individuals needing emergency medical care, inpatient psychiatric hospitalization, medical detoxification, or involuntary treatment will be referred or transferred to the appropriate level of care.
